Estates Improvement Programme 2021 – 2037

As part of our four-year Fire Plan which launched in 2021, we are investing millions of pounds into a long-term programme of improvements to update our fire stations, buildings and facilities, ensuring they are modern and fit for the future.

The improvements and refurbishments form part of our 16-year estates strategy, with all work having a heavy focus on reducing our carbon footprint while supporting the city-region’s ambition of becoming carbon neutral by 2038.

The programme is expected to take place in four phases, each taking four years. In July 2021, £38million was awarded by the Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester for the first phase of the programme, which included huge refurbishments at our Training and Safety Centre in Bury – with a new Incident Command and Leadership Development Academy now in full swing.
