Un-occupied premises - Chester Road, Stretford
Update: 05.30pm, 14th August
After battling the fire in Stretford for over twelve hours, firefighters have scaled back their operations after bringing the fire under control.
Two fire engines from Salford and Wythenshawe will remain at the scene throughout the night, damping down the remaining hotspots in the building’s roof structure.
Chester Road will remain closed while crews control and closely monitor the building.
Update: 09.45am, 14th August
Crews have been battling the fire in Stretford through the morning and five fire engines remain at the scene. Firefighters are now working internally to extinguish the flames and are likely to be in attendance for the next few hours.
Smoke levels have been reduced, however the road closure is still in place. As this incident is close to Old Trafford Stadium, we recommend that anyone attending the football match at 12:30 should allow plenty of travel time.
Update: 07.00am, 14th August
At around 3:50am on Saturday 14 August, GMFRS crews were called to reports of a fire at a three-storey un-occupied premises on Chester Road, Stretford.
Eight fire engines and other specialist appliances are currently at the scene. Firefighters are working hard to tackle the fire using four jets and two aerial ladder platforms.
Road closures are in place. Local residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed and should avoid the area while firefighters carry out their work.
