GREATER Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) have successfully completed the Diversity and Inclusion programme organised by NHS Employers Network.
GMFRS were the first non NHS provider to be successful in being selected to take part in the programme.
The focus of the programme was based around four developmental modules that provide partners with detailed strategic policy support, the opportunity to undertake personal development and a forum to share good practice and network with fellow colleagues in the NHS, and other diversity and inclusion subject matter experts.
The Diversity and Inclusion partners programme supports participating organisations to progress and develop their equality performance and to build capacity in this area. At the same time the programme provides an opportunity for partners to offer advice, guidance and demonstrations of good practice in equality and diversity management to the wider organisation. Partners are supported to achieve this in a number of ways:
Bridging Cultures Co-ordinator, Yasmin Bukhari said: “It was a fantastic opportunity offered to us by our partners at the NHS. It allowed us to share valuable experience and resources, as well as the opportunity to network with other Equality & Diversity Practitioners from across the UK.
The programme will enable us to develop internal inclusive practices across the fire service.”
