GREATER Manchester's Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Beverley Hughes is set to open this year’s Emergency Services Open Day on Thursday, August 3, 2017.

Running in its seventh year, the family friendly event will take place at the Orient car park, intu Trafford centre from 10am to 4pm, with over 15,000 visitors expected.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) will joined by Greater Manchester Police (GMP), North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), other emergency response, community safety, community fire cadets and support vehicles.

The action packed event celebrates the work of the emergency services and highlights how blue light services work together to serve the Greater Manchester community.

Throughout the day you can watch and participate in live demonstrations and displays such as rope rescue, chip pan fire demos, CPR training and road traffic collision rescues.

At this free event, families will have the chance to visit various vehicles and stands and learn more about all emergency response organisations. Children will be able to enjoy a ride on the children’s fire engine, meet the emergency services mascots and take part in a competition.

Following on from last year’s event, CPR will be the main theme of the day.

GMFRS Station Manager of Sale and Stretford, Rob McDonagh said: “The event is a fantastic opportunity for the emergency services to highlight their collaborative working along with a unique chance for members of the public from children to adults to learn a lifesaving skill, CPR.

“Come along and be part of the day which could ultimately give you the skills to save a life.”

All emergency services staff will be on hand to provide information and safety advice, as well as some recruitment opportunities.

Share your photos and experience from this year’s event by using the hashtag #999Day on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Greater Manchester’s emergency services are hoping make this a record breaking summer event so come along and join in the fun!
