Building fire – Heywood
AT 02.06am on Sunday, February 25, three fire engines from Heywood and Rochdale were called to reports of a building fire in Ashworth Road, Heywood.
On arrival firefighters found roof timbers in a two story commercial building alight. Crews were able to extinguish the flames using one hose reel and we at the incident for two hours and 40 minutes.
Building fire – Manchester
AT 03.22am on Sunday, February 25, three fire engines from Philips Park and Manchester Central were called to a building fire in Culcheth Lane, Manchester.
On arrival firefighters found waste and timber alight in the derelict building. To put the fire out firefighters used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel.
Firefighters were on the scene for 50 minutes, the cause of the fire was thought to have been deliberate.
Flat fire – Manchester
AT 09.37am on Sunday, February 25, four fire engines from Moss Side, Manchester Central, Gorton and Salford, along with the aerial appliance from Manchester Central were called to a flat fire in Chatham Street, Manchester.
On arrival the smoke was located as coming from the sixth floor so a command area was established on the fifth floor. From there a breathing apparatus team was sent to locate the fire on the sixth floor. The smoke was found to be coming from a utility cupboard.
A team of firefighters proceeded to use a jet to extinguish any flames, whilst other firefighters ensured the fifth, sixth and seventh floors had been evacuated as a precaution.
After being at the incident for one hour and 50 minutes the fire was extinguished and building management took control.
The cause of the fire was thought to have been an electrical fault within a boiler.
Building fire – Stretford
AT 12.00pm on Sunday, February 25, three fires engines from Sale, Broughton and Agecroft were called to a commercial building fire in Park Road, Stretford.
On arrival firefighters found the ducting on the roof alright and used one hose reel and thermal imaging camera to extinguish it.
Firefighters were at the incident for one hour.
The cause of the fire was thought to have been accidental.
House fire – Chadderton
AT 13.46pm on Sunday, February 25, three fire engines from Oldham, Hollins and Chadderton were called to a house fire in Tewkesbury Avenue, Chadderton.
On arrival the oven was alight, which was extinguished by firefighters by using a hose reel and two breathing apparatus. They then used a ventilation fan to clear the remaining smoke.
Firefighters were at the incident for 50 minutes, the cause of the fire was accidental.
Caravan fire – Manchester
AT 17.00pm on Synday, February 25, two fire engines from Philip Park and Manchester Central, were called to reports of a caravan fire in Hanson Road, Manchester.
On arrival firefightes found a caravan alight and they used one hose reel to extinguish it.
The cause of the fire was thought to have been deliberate.
Firefighters were at the incident for 30 minutes.
