Between 5.30pm on Friday, December 15 and 8am on Monday, December 18, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 238 incidents. Read about some of the ones we attended on Friday below.
House fire - Stockport
AT 6:10pm on Friday, December 15, three crews from Whitehill, Stockport and Poynton attended a house fire at Flaggwood Avenue, Stockport.
The fire was caused by a discarded smoking material in the bin of the bedroom. Crews used one hose reel, one hearth kit, lighting and a thermal imagine camera to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire was accidental. Firefighters were at the scene for fifty minutes.
Workshop fire – Manchester
AT 6:15pm on Friday, December 15, two crews from Manchester Central and Gorton attended a building fire at a workshop in Hellidon Close, Manchester.
The fire involved an electrical box on an engineering lath. Firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus used one hose reel, one covering jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire was accidental. Crews were on the scene for one hour and fifteen minutes.
Caravan fire – Tyldesley
AT 10:07pm on Friday, December 15, two crews from Atherton and Farnworth attended a caravan fire in Manchester Road, Tyldesley.
Crews used one hose reel to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate. Firefighters were on the scene for just over half an hour.
