Between 5.30pm on Tuesday, September 19 and 8.30am on Wednesday, September 20 we received 125 calls and responded to 55 emergencies. Read about a building fire and car fire below.
Building fire – Manchester
AT 2.21am on Wednesday, September 20, three fire engines from Withington and Gorton attended a building fire in Birchfields Road, Manchester.
On arrival firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a ventilation fan to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire was thought to have been accidental and firefighters remained at the incident for three hours.
Car fire – M6
AT 5.28am on Wednesday, September 20, three fire engines from Wigan and Skelmersdale were called to a car fire near to Junction 27 (Wigan) on the M6.
On arrival firefighters found a car well alright on the southbound carriageway, requiring the use of two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish.
Firefighters remained at the scene for one hour.
