Between 5.30pm on Tuesday, October 17 and 8.30am on, Wednesday, October 18, we received 135 calls and attended 66 incidents. Read below about some of those incidents which we attended:
Building fire – Prestwich
AT 18.21pm, on Tuesday October 17, three fire engines from Agecroft, Broughton and Whitefield were called to a building fire in Rainsough Brow, Prestwich.
On arrival firefighters found a small fire on the ground floor of the building and used one hose reel to extinguish it.
Firefighters were at the incident for 50 minutes.
Warehouse fire – Bolton
AT 03.47am, on Wednesday, October 18, five fire engines from Bolton Central, Bolton North and Farnworth, along with the command unit and support pump from Rochdale, the technical response unit from Leigh and air unit were called to an incident in Folds Road, Bolton.
On arrival firefighters were met by a blaze in a warehouse, with a quantity of stacked cardboard well alight. The fire service used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a ventilation fan to extinguish the flames.
Firefighters are still currently on the scene.
Waste fire – Atherton
AT 04.28am, on Wednesday, October 18, three fire engines from Atherton, Hindley and Leigh were called a waste fire in Arley Way, Atherton.
When firefighters arrived they found a large quantity of landfill waste on fire, covering an area that was roughly 20m by 20m. To bring the fire under control firefighters used one hose reel and two jets.
Firefighters are still at the scene.
