Overnight incidents – Monday, January 29, 2018
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 44 incidents between 5.30pm on Monday January 29 to 8am, Tuesday January 30, 2018.
Kitchen fire – Bolton
AT 6:48pm on Monday, January 29, two crews from Bolton Central and Horwich attended a kitchen fire in a first floor flat in Chorley New Road, Bolton.
On arrival, firefighters used one hose reel, a positive pressure ventilation fan, a gas detector, lighting and a dry powder extinguisher to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire was accidental and was down to a fault with the electrical oven in the property. Crews were on the scene for approximately one hour.
Trailer fire – M6 Motorway
AT 3:08am on Tuesday, January 30, two crews from Wigan and Leigh, and one crew from Skelmersdale from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire involving a lorry trailer on the M6 motorway.
Firefighters wearing three breathing apparatus used approximately 2000 litres of water, one hose reel, three dry powder extinguishers and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire was due to the brakes of the trailer unit catching fire. Crews remained at the scene for one hour and fifteen minutes.
