Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 42 incidents overnight between 5.30pm on 12 September and 8.30am on 13 September, 2017, including a derelict mill fire and a water rescue.

Derelict mill fire – Oldham

AT 5.42pm on 12 September, three fire engines from Rochdale and Chadderton stations attended an address on Milnrow Road in Shaw. When they arrived, firefighters tackled a fire involving a small amount of rubbish inside a derelict mill. They used one hose reel to put out the fire and were in attendance for around 20 minutes.

Water rescue – Salford

AT 7.38pm on 12 September, a fire engine from Irlam, the water incident unit from Eccles, and a technical rescue unit from Leigh were sent to rescue two people and a dog from a brook off Lords Street in Eccles. Firefighters used dry suits to carry out the rescue and the two adults were treated by fire service trauma technicians and ambulance service paramedics. Firefighters were on the scene for around one hour.
