Flat fire – Manchester
AT 12.53am on August 8, 2017, three fire engines from Chadderton, Blackley and Hollins attended a fire at a first floor flat in Melford Avenue, Manchester.
Two casualties escaped from the property through a window prior to the arrival of crew.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to tackle the fire and cleared smoke from the flat with a positive pressure fan. A thermal imaging camera was also used to check the flat for any remaining pockets of fire.
Crew remained at the scene for around two hours and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
Bin fire – Manchester
FIREFIGHTERS from Hollins attended an incident in Nevin Road, Manchester at 1.40am on August 8, 2017 involving two wheelie bins that had been set alight. The fire spread to a gate, cladding and extractor fan of a building.
Crews used one hose reel and a ladder to tackle the fire as well as monitoring the building with a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots.
The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and firefighters remained at the scene for around an hour.
Tumble dryer fire – Timperley
AT 2.39am on August 8, 2017, three fire engines from Altrincham, Sale and Wythenshawe attended a fire at a country club in Clay Lane, Timperley.
The fire involved a tumble dryer in the drying room of the club and firefighters used one hose reel to tackle the fire and cleared smoke from the area with a positive pressure fan. Crew monitored the building with a thermal imaging camera to check for any remaining pockets of fire.
Firefighters remained at the scene for around 90 minutes.

You sweep or vacuum the areas around the dryer regularly to prevent fluff build up.
Do not use tumble dryers while sleeping or away from home.

Garage fire – Manchester
AT 5.07am on August 8, 2017, three fire engines from Blackley, Whitefield and Heywood responded to a building fire in Baguley Crescent, Prestwich.
The fire involved a large quantity of carpet and timber in a garage below a flat.
Firefighters used one hose reel, two breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the fire.
The cause of the fire is believed to have been started deliberately and firefighters remained at the scene for around 30 minutes.
