BETWEEN 5.30pm on Thursday, June 1, and 8.30am on Friday, June 2, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 58 incidents.

Water rescue – Leigh

AT 1.07am on Friday, June 2, two crews from Leigh and Eccles along with the boat unit from Eccles and the technical response unit from Leigh were called to reports of someone in the Leeds to Liverpool Canal near to St. Helens Road, Leigh.

Crews rescued one casualty from the water and first aid was given by specialist fire crews before the man was taken to hospital.

Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 50 minutes.


Commercial fire – Bolton

AT 4.32am on Friday, June 2, three crews from Bolton Central and Bolton North were called to a fire at a commercial building on St. Helens Road, Bolton.

On arrival crews found a fire on the ground floor and used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

Firefighters were on the scene for two and a half hours.
