BETWEEN 8.30am and 5.30pm on Friday, October 13, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was called to 39 incidents.

Kitchen fire – Eccles

AT 10.41am on Friday, October 13, three crews from Eccles and Agecroft were called to a fire at a semi-detached house on Richmond Grove, Eccles.

On arrival crews found the fire was out but used a specialist ventilation fan to clear smoke from the house and administered oxygen to three casualties, one of whom was taken to hospital by ambulance crews.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

Crews would like to remind people to take care and never to leave cooking unattended.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 30 minutes.

Safety advice

  • Don't panic and don't take risks
  • If it's safe to do so - turn off the heat, but never lean over the pan to reach the controls
  • Leave the kitchen, close the door behind you, tell everyone else in the home to get out and don't go back inside for any reason
  • Call 999
