Firefighters have now left the scene of the fire at an industrial unit in Swinton, Salford.
Five fire engines from Agecroft, Eccles, Heywood and Salford, the aerial support unit, a hydraulic platform and support fire engine from Manchester Central, and the command unit and support fire engine from Rochdale, were called to the fire early this morning.
Crews were in attendance for around eight hours.
UPDATE - 12.30pm
Two fire engines remain at the scene of an industrial unit fire in Swinton, Salford.
Firefighters were called to the fire, which involved a store room in a single storey commercial building at 5.39am this morning, and used one hydraulic platform, one high pressure lance, two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to put the fire out.
Crews are still at the scene damping down.
Industrial unit fire - Swinton
AT 5:39am on Saturday, February 24, six pumps, a specialist unit and the hydraulic platform from Manchester Central were called to a fire at an industrial unit in Rutland Street, Swinton.
On arrival, crews were faced with smoke issuing from the roof of the multi-use commercial premises, measuring approximately 60x10 metres.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using one hose reel, and one dry powder extinguisher to tackle the blaze. Crews are also utilising the hydraulic platform to put water on to the fire from height.
The incident is still ongoing.
