Industrial unit fire - Salford

Borough: Salford

Incident Date: 25 December 2017

UPDATE - 2.30PM - DECEMBER 26, 2017

ONE fire engine remains at the scene of an industrial unit fire in Broughton Lane, Salford, that broke out in the early hours of Christmas morning.

At the height of the blaze, 11 fire engines along with a number of specialist appliances were in attendance with crew wearing breathing apparatus tackling the fire with jets and an ultra-high pressure cutting lance.

The fire originated in a unit that was storing a large quantity of bedding and spread to neighbouring units. Firefighters managed to bring the incident under control by around 8am on December 25, and it was scaled back to four appliances with firefighters remaining on scene throughout Christmas day and night to monitor the incident and check for further pockets of fire.

An investigation is currently underway to establish the cause of the fire.
