ON Saturday, July 1, 2017, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 105 incidents. Read about some of those we attended below.
Farm machinery fire - Denshaw
AT 12:10pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017 four crews from Oldham and Rochdale, along with one command support unit and one support appliance from Hyde attended a fire involving farm machinery in Ripponden Road, Denshaw.
Firefighters wearing four breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a ventilation fan to extinguish the flames at the single storey barn.
One casualty was treated on the scene by a fire service trauma technician.
Crews were on the scene for approximately five hours and thirty minutes.
Electrical fire – Failsworth
AT 5:56pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017, three crews from Hollins, Chadderton and Philips Park attended a fire at a takeaway shop in Oldham Road, Failsworth.
Firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus extinguished the flames involving electrics in the basement of the property using a dry powder extinguisher and a thermal imaging camera.
Crews were on the scene for three hours.

Kitchen fire – Oldham
AT 6:04pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017, three crews from Oldham and Mossley attended a kitchen fire at mid-terraced property in Lynwood Drive, Oldham.
Firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using one hose reel.
One casualty was treated for smoke inhalation by a fire service trauma technician.
The cause of the fire was accidental and a home safety check was carried whilst in attendance.
Crews were on the scene for one hour and thirty minutes.
Kitchen fire – Stalybridge
AT 6:52pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017, three crews from Stalybridge, Mossley and Ashton-Under-Lyne attended a kitchen fire at a semi-detached property in Ash Grove, Stalybridge.
Firefighters extinguished the flames involving a grill pan using one hose reel.
Crews were on the scene for approximately twenty minutes.
RTC – Bolton
At 9:05pm on Saturday, July 1, two crews from Bolton Central and the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Leigh attended a road traffic collision involving two cars in Beaumont Road, Bolton.
Firefighters rescued one trapped casualty using cutting and stability gear. The casualty was then taken to hospital by the ambulance service.
Crews were on the scene for approximately fifty five minutes.
Trapped dog – Flixton
AT 9:33pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017, one crew from Eccles attended a property in Haslemere Road, Flixton to reports of a puppy trapped in an electrical reclining chair.
Firefighters released the fourteen week old cocker spaniel from the chair using a hearth kit and crow bars. There was no injuries to the puppy.
Crews were on the scene for approximately one hour and twenty minutes.
