Between 5.30pm on Friday, September 29 and 8.00am on Monday, October 2 we received 484 calls and responded to 252 incidents. Read below the details of the incidents we attended on Monday.
Road traffic collision – Bolton
AT 00.08am on Monday, October 2, two fire engines from Bolton and two technical rescue and major rescue units from Leigh were called to a road traffic collision in Deane Road, Bolton.
On arrival firefighters found that three vehicles were involved in the crash, with one person trapped in their vehicle. Firefighters used spreading equipment, saws and lighting to free the person from the car, at which point they administered oxygen therapy.
Firefighters remained at the incident for one hour.
Recycling fire – Manchester
AT 00.26am on Monday, October 2, three fire engines from Philips Park and Manchester Central were mobilised to a recycling fire in Oldham Road, Manchester.
On arrival firefighters found a large fire involving bales of plastic recycling which required firefighters to use two jets, one short extension ladder and lighting equipment to extinguish. Firefighters continually used a thermal imaging camera to identify hot spots in the fire.
Crews remained at the scene for two hours and 30 minutes whilst the cause of the fire was thought to have been deliberate.
Shed fire – Wythenshawe
AT 04.14am on Monday, October 2, two fire engines from Wythenshawe and Sale were called to a shed fire in Bideford Drive, Wythenshawe.
Firefighters used two hose reels to extinguish the fire within 35 minutes of arrival.
The cause of the fire was thought to have been deliberate.
