Between 8am and 5.30pm on Thursday, January 11, 70 calls were made to North West Fire Control for the Greater Manchester. Our crews attended 38 incidents.
Rescue of people, Rochdale
At 8.55am a fire engine from Rochdale attended a call on Milk Street in Rochdale.
On arrival firefighters used a 13.5m and a 9m ladder to rescue three people from a cherry picker which was stuck approximately 30ft in the air. Nobody was injured.
Crews were at the scene for 30 minutes.
Road traffic collision, M56
At 2.33pm three fire engines from Wythenshawe and Withington, the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Leigh attended a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry on the eastbound carriageway of the M56.
Firefighters used cutting equipment and stabilisation equipment to rescue the driver from one of the vehicles, who was then taken to hospital.
Crews remained at the scene for 45 minutes.
