House fire, Wigan

The fire involved a candle that had been left on top of a wood burner fire in the living room of the property and there was very little damage. Luckily, the fire was already out when firefighters arrived and advice was given to the resident.
Crews were in attendance for approximately 28 minutes.
Firefighters want to remind people to take care when using candles. Never leave them unattended and remember to put them out before you go to sleep. If there is a room where you usually burn candles, think about adding an extra smoke alarm in that room and test it regularly.
