Between 8am and 5.30pm on Thursday, February 15, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 47 incidents. Read about some of them below.
Commercial building fire - Hyde
AT 10:40am on Thursday, February 15, three crews from Ashton-Under-Lyne and Gorton were called to a commercial property fire in Edward Street, Hyde.
Firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus extinguished the flames involving a large quantity of tyres using one hose reel, one jet, a thermal imaging camera and a gas detector.
The fire had spread to the building and shipping container.
The cause of the fire was accidental. Crews were on the scene for approximately one hour and twenty minutes.
Kitchen fire – Little Hulton
AT 12:39pm on Thursday, February 15, three crews Farnworth, Bolton Central and Atherton attended a kitchen fire in Greenheys Road, Little Hulton.
Firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus extinguished the flames involving a pan of food using one hose feel, one lock puller and a door breaker.
Crews were on the scene for thirty minutes.
Flat fire – Salford
AT 3:35pm on Thursday, February 15, four crews from Broughton, Whitefield, Gorton and Stretford, along with the aerial appliance and support appliance from Oldham, responded to a flat fire in Blackfriars Road, Salford.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames in the tenth floor flat using two jets and a positive pressure ventilation fan.
Crews are still in attendance.
