Garage fire – Kearsley, Bolton


AT 2.23am on Saturday, March 4 two fire engines from Farnworth were sent to a fire in Melville Road in Kearsley. The fire in a single storey garage was attached to an electrical sub-station. An Electricity North West Engineer isolated the electricity as a precaution. Firefighters fought the fire using two hose reels and were on the scene for over three hours. 


The fire was deliberate.



Saturday, March 4 (8.00am) to Sunday, March 5 (8.00am)


Van fire – Reddish, Stockport


AT 8.38am on Saturday, March 4 one fire engine from Whitehill attended an incident involving a van on fire in Reddish in Stockport. The van was out on arrival but firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to confirm that there were no other signs of heat near the vehicle. One casualty was confirmed dead at the scene. Firefighters remained at the incident for around three and a half hours.


House fire – Radcliffe


At 5.58pm on Saturday, March 4 two fire engines from Farnworth and one from Bolton North were called to a fire in Boundary Drive in Radcliffe. The fire started on the first floor of a semi-detached property, involving an iron and ironing board. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and a large ventilation fan to extinguish the fire and help get rid of the smoke. Crew were on the scene for around 50 minutes.


House fire – Stockport


At 7.49pm on Saturday, March 4 firefighters from Stockport, Whitehill and Offerton attended a fire in Bramhall Lane in Stockport. The fire involved an electric fan in the bathroom of a semi-detached house. The fire had spread to the facias and soffats at the back of the house. Crew using a hose reel extinguished the fire and were on the scene for one hour and 15 minutes.
