Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 30 incidents between 8am and 5.30pm, Monday January 22. Read about three house fires and a shop fire below:
Bedroom fire, Wigan
At 9.31am three engines – two from Wigan and one from Hindley – were called to a fire in a first storey bedroom on Hind Road, Wigan.
Fire crews used four breathing apparatus, two hoses, a positive pressure ventilation fan, along with shovels and a gas detector, to tackle the blaze.
There were no casualties and GMFRS were on the scene for roughly two hours and 10 minutes.
Kitchen fire, Oldham
Two engines from Oldham and once from Hollins were called at 12.14pm to a fire in the kitchen of a house on Sydenham Street, Oldham.
GMFRS used two breathing apparatus, one hose and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire, and were on site for an hour.
Shop fire, Hulme
At 14.47pm three engines from Moss Side and Broughton attended a fire involving an electrical heater at a newsagents on Great Western Street in Hulme, Manchester.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose, one powder extinguisher, a positive pressure ventilation fan, additional lighting and a thermal imaging camera as they subdued the flames.
Crews were on scene for just over an hour.
Kitchen fire, Failsworth
Firefighters from Oldham, Hollins and Chadderton Fire Stations attended in three engines to a kitchen fire in a terraced property on Ashton Road East in Failsworth following a call at 3.32pm.
The fire, which had started at the cooker, required the use of a hose and two breathing apparatus to extinguish, with crews at the site for approximately 45 minutes.
