House fire , Walkden

00.30 update

The fire at a property in Lakeside Avenue is now out and crews remain on the scene to ventilate the property. Two of the three self-rescued casualties have been taken to hospital by the ambulance service and have been treated for smoke inhalation. 

One casualty who jumped from a first floor window to escape the flames has suffered a broken ankle. 

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

23:50 update

AT 23.21 three fire engines from Bolton Central and Farnworth were called to a house fire in Lakeside Avenue, Walkden.

Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are currently extinguishing the fire involving the ground floor and first floor of a semi-detached property using three hose reels and one jet.

Three people were self-rescued prior to the arrival of the fire service. Crews are also monitoring neighbouring properties to ensure there is no fire spread.
