Have your say on introducing measures to prevent moorland fires in Bolton

Bolton Council would like to hear from people about a new proposal to ban barbecues, open flames like campfires and camping stoves, fireworks and Chinese lanterns from moorland areas, to reduce the risk of wildfires.

Our colleagues from Bolton borough have been working closely with Bolton and Darwen councils and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, leading up to the launch of the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) consultation.

If implemented, the PSPO would prohibit activities within set boundaries - which have been identified as carrying a significant risk of causing wildfires - and the restrictions would make it a criminal offence to contravene the regulations and could lead to fines ranging from £100 to £1,000.
