Farnworth firefighter takes on Brigade2Brigade challenge

Firefighter Charlie Thompson from Farnworth Community Fire Station will be taking part in the Brigade2Brigade challenge to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Charlie will be walking 55 miles, in full fire kit and breathing apparatus equipment, from Cheadle Community Fire Station to Harworth Community Fire Station, based in Nottinghamshire, on June 14 this year.

Speaking ahead of the charity fundraiser, Charlie said: “I’m really looking forward to taking on the challenge and raising important funds for The Fire Fighters Charity who support colleagues in GMFRS and other fire and rescue services across the UK along with family members who may require support.

“This challenge is in loving memory of a very close family friend, Henry Jennings who sadly passed away on New Year’s Day. He was a very giving young man and would have walked beside me if he could.”
