Dye House Lane - Monday 3 June

Firefighters are currently tackling a fire in a factory yard in Dye House Lane, Rochdale.

Fire engines from Rochdale, Littleborough, Heywood and Atherton are currently in attendance.

The fire, involving a quantity of plastic, is currently 20m by 40m. Firefighters wearing three breathing apparatus are using four jets and two hose reels to prevent the fire from spreading.

Local residents are encouraged to keep their windows and doors shut and avoid the area.

Crews are working hard and good progress is being made. The fire is now 20m by 30m and crews are damping down the affected areas.

Residents should continue to keep their windows and doors shut as a precaution.

Fantastic progress has been made at the incident this evening thanks to the hard work of our firefighters.

Two fire engines are in attendance and firefighters will work through the night to dampen down and continue to monitor the scene.
