Youth mentoring
Our youth mentoring programme has been created in collaboration with GM Navigator. It aims to help young people develop key skills with focus on self-discipline and self-awareness, while giving them access to work with inspirational firefighters, in a safe and supportive way within a positive environment.
It also aims to embed confidence, resilience, self-assurance, and esteem leading to change, success, and aspirations.
It is open to 10 – 25-year-olds involved with GM Navigator.
The programme will consist of a variety of one-to-one and group sessions every 3 weeks, throughout the year, totalling 12 sessions and is delivered form one of our local fire stations with a firefighter mentor.
Sessions will include:
- ‘Developing Resilience’ qualification accredited by Princes Trust
- Positive coping skills
- Building and developing resilience
- Enhance confidence and overcome barriers
- Develop future opportunities
- Establish a positive mindset
- Celebration session on final session
