Primary School Resources

Primary School Resources

All our resources are suitable for delivery for Year 2 and Year 6 classes across Greater Manchester. Our firefighters and specialist prevention education staff are visiting targeted schools every year, delivering lessons for each age group which complement any individual school’s safety education programme.

This lesson usually lasts one hour and focuses on increasing knowledge about fire risks and awareness of what to do in the event of a fire.

It covers:

  • Why it is important to keep their homes safe from fire.
  • What an effective escape plan and bedtime check is.
  • What a smoke alarm looks and sounds like and how to respond to an alarm.
  • How and when to dial 999 and how to alert an adult.
  • Explain and demonstrate – ‘Stop, Drop n Roll’.
