King's Trust Team Programme

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service run the King's Trust (formerly the Prince's Trust) TEAM programme, which is a personal development course for 16 to 25 year olds who are unemployed and not currently in education.

The course runs Monday to Friday, over 12 weeks, and we encourage young people from a range of backgrounds and abilities to join.

We run the TEAM programme from five of our fire stations - Manchester Central, Hyde, Stockport (Whitehill), Bolton and Oldham. There are three courses throughout the year, starting in January, May and September.

The TEAM programme is a great way to develop skills, gain qualifications, build confidence and meet new people. During the course you will attend a one week residential where you will take part in outdoor activities, some of which include rock scrambling, canoeing, abseiling and caving; you will also complete two weeks of work experience, a two week community project, and firefighter experience days with our operational crews.

On completion of the course you will gain a Level 1 qualification in Employability, Teamwork and Community Skills, along with additional qualifications in:

  • Emergency First Aid at Work (HSE Approved)
  • Health and Safety & Manual Handling
  • Basic Food Hygiene (certified by CIEH)

Whether you are in a transition period and unsure of your next steps, wanting help with getting back into work or education, looking for a challenge and to take on new opportunities, or simply want to meet new people and build confidence – this is the course for you!
