Athena Project (Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club)

Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club (MSFSBC) works with young people across Greater Manchester, to help build their confidence, self-esteem, as well as their fitness and skills base. It also provides them with a safe place and positive role models.

The club has always been about engaging with and being of benefit for the local community (particularly young people), however it has the potential to benefit a much wider audience and expand to allow it to reach its full potential.

Sessions are provided on a bespoke basis consisting of 60 minutes. Minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 young people. All are delivered at Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Gym.

Sessions provide a basis to start forming teamwork skills to learn the discipline required. It will help young people improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, raising awareness and understanding around nutrition.

There are many success stories within Moss Side Fire Station boxing Club, including one young person qualifying from the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Also, a young person from Manchester Youth Justice has highlighted that the club has supported him with rehabilitation.
