Andrea Heffernan

Andrea has held the position of Director of Corporate Support since 2015, and prior to that she fulfilled a number of roles within GMFRS’ finance team including the position of Head of Finance and Technical Services from June 2008. 

Andrea is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and prior to joining GMFRS in 1997 worked for KPMG as an Internal Auditor and for a Home Care Charity in Wakefield. 

As GMFRS’ Director of Corporate Support, Andrea oversees a number of high-profile programmes directly aligned to the Fire Plan including the 16-year estates programme of improvements which includes a series of new community fire stations being developed across the city-region in the coming years. 

Andrea is married to Steve and has a daughter. She is a lifelong fan of Newcastle United and enjoys dog walking particularly the Northumberland coast.
