Between 8.30am and 5.30pm today, we received 79 calls and attended 42 incidents.
Domestic fire – Leigh
At 08:38 on October 17, three fire engines from Hindley, Atherton and Leigh attended a fire at a domestic property on Duke Street, Leigh.
Fire fighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire involving a fence panel and dog kennel at the rear of the terraced property. A thermal scanner was used to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
Crews were on scene for approximately one hour.
Car fire – Manchester
At 09:59 hours on October 17, two fire engines from Gorton and one from Manchester Central attended a fire on Edwin Road, Manchester, involving a car inside a commercial garage.
Fire crews used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.
They remained at the incident for approximately one hour and 15 minutes.
RTC – Manchester
At 10:26 on October 17, two fire engines from Withington and Wythenshawe, along with two special appliances from Leigh, attended a road traffic collision on Broad Oak Lane, Manchester.
Firefighters used one hose reel, stepchocks, cutting equipment and a saw to rescue one person from the vehicle who, along with one other person, were taken to hospital by ambulance.
Crews were in attendance for one hour and twenty minutes.
Garage fire – Timperley
At 10:48 on October 17, fire crews attended a fire in a detached garage on Shaftsbury Avenue, Timperley, which had spread to an adjoining garage.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, a short extension ladder and a ceiling hook to tackle the fire.
Crews were at the scene for approximately an hour and 50 minutes.
