Rochdale cadets complete course and Hollins cadets to tackle Yorkshire Three Peaks for charity

SIX young people are celebrating after completing a Community Fire Cadets course with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).

Community Fire Cadets is a two year programme aimed at 14 to 17-year-olds who live in Greater Manchester.

The programme offers young people an opportunity to learn basic firefighting skills while working towards an accredited and nationally recognised qualification, Edexcel Level 2 BTEC in Fire and Rescue Service’s in the Community.

On the evening of Thursday, March 17, the fire cadets who have completed a programme at Rochdale Community Fire Station were presented with certificates by Station Manager Mark Doggett.

Cadets based at Hollins Community Fire Station are currently carrying out a community project which will see them walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks on Saturday, April 2, 2016 to raise money for Dr Kershaw's Hospice in Oldham.

The group has set up a Just Giving page if anyone wishes to make a donation to support the cause: http://www.justgiving.com/Hollins-Fire-Cadets
