Weekend incidents - Sunday, July 30

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Friday, July 28, and 8.30m on Monday, July 31, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 236 incidents.

Flat fire – Manchester

AT 0.15am on Sunday, July 30, three crews from Moss Side and Manchester Central were called to a fire on Hyde Grove, Manchester.

On arrival crews found a fire in an airing cupboard and used four breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for 55 minutes.

 

Road traffic collision – Chadderton

AT 0.19am on Sunday, July 30, two crews from Hollins and Chadderton along with the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision on Broadway, Chadderton.

On arrival crews made the vehicles safe and assisted ambulance crews with the seven casualties, four of whom were taken to hospital.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and 15 minutes.

 

Kitchen fire – Manchester

THREE crews from Moss Side, Withington and Wythenshawe were called to a fire at a house on Old Lansdowne Road, Manchester, at 7.26am on Sunday, July 30.

On arrival crews found a fire in the kitchen and used two hose reels, four breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

Two casualties had escaped the house before crews arrived and were treated for smoke inhalation by ambulance crews, with one taken to hospital.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and 20 minutes.

 

Barn fire – Horwich

AT 8.12am on Sunday, July 30, three crews from Horwich, Bolton and Bolton North were called to a fire on Matchmoor Lane, Horwich.

On arrival crews found a barn on fire and used a hose reel, two breathing apparatus, a short ladder and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish it.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and 35 minutes.
