Weekend incidents - Saturday, March 25

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Friday, March 24, and 8.30am Monday, March 27 Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received 601 calls and attended 316 incidents.

Below are some incidents firefighters attended:

 

Saturday March 25

Garage fire - Ashton

AT 3.55am on Saturday, March 25, two crews from Ashton and Hollins were called to a garage fire on Bombay Street, Ashton.

On arrival crews found two vehicles and a garage alight and used two hose reels and two breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 45 minutes.

 

Bathroom fire - Leigh

TWO crews from Atherton and Leigh, along with the technical response unit and the major rescue unit from Leigh, attended a fire at a terraced house on Glebe Street, Leigh, at 6.13am on Saturday, March 25.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a fan to extinguish the fire and ventilate the house.

A casualty was treated with oxygen.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were at the scene for an hour and 45 minutes.

 

Kitchen fire – Stockport

AT 1.21pm on Saturday, March 25, three crews from Gorton and Ashton attended a fire at a house on Churchill Crescent, Stockport.

On arrival crews found a fire in the kitchen and used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a fan to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 25 minutes.
