Weekend incidents - Saturday, July 29

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Friday, July 28, and 8.30m on Monday, July 31, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to 236 incidents.

Rescue of person – Rochdale

AT 1.07am on Saturday, July 29, one crew from Rochdale along with the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Ashton were called to reports of a person down an embankment on Bury Road, Rochdale.

Crews rescued the male using ropes, lighting and specialist rescue equipment and looked after him until ambulance crews arrived.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately three hours.

 

House fire – Marple

THREE crews from Marple, Offerton and Stockport were called to a fire in the roof of a house on Ridge Road, Marple, at 1.51am on Saturday, July 29.

On arrival crews used one hose reel, a specialist fan, a thermal imaging camera, lighting, a ladder and other specialist equipment to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately an hour and 35 minutes.

 

Porta-cabin fire – Oldham

AT 4.52am on Saturday, July 29, three crews from Oldham and Chadderton were called to a porta-cabin fire on Willow Street, Oldham.

Crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, breaking in gear and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour.

 

House fire – Stockport

AT 6.06am on Saturday, July 29, three crews from Stockport, Cheadle and Offerton were called to a fire at a semi-detached house on Rostherne Road, Stockport.

On arrival crews found a fire on the first floor and used four breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately four hours.

 

Vehicle fire – Bury

THREE crews from Bury, Whitefield and Heywood were called to a fire on Pimhole Road, Bury, at 7.04am on Saturday, July 29.

On arrival crews found three vehicles and a quantity of engine blocks on fire and used three breathing apparatus, two hose reels, two jets and other specialist equipment to extinguish it.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately an hour and a half.

 

Derelict building fire – Leigh

AT 8.39pm on Saturday, July 29, three crews from Hindley, Atherton and Leigh were called to a fire on Bradshawgate, Leigh.

On arrival crews found a derelict building on fire and used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a specialist fan to extinguish the fire and clear smoke from the building.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Firefighters were on the scene for 45 minutes.
