Kitchen fire – Manchester
At 3.50am on Tuesday, December 6, three crews from Salford and Moss Side were called to a fire in Jackson Crescent, Manchester.
A pan of oil had been left unattended, igniting an extractor fan and resulting in a kitchen fire. Four firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire, which caused significant damage to the kitchen. High pressure fans were used to ventilate the property.
Smoke alarms were fitted in the property and raised the alarm, waking up a woman who was able to safely leave the building before the arrival of the fire service. She was assessed by firefighters for smoke inhalation but did not receive any further medical treatment.
Crews were in attendance for one hour.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
