Shop fire – Manchester – December 21, 2016
SHORTLY after 10.00pm on December 21, 2016, a fire engine from Broughton and two from Manchester Central were called to a fire at a mid-terraced shop in Cheetham Hill Road, Manchester.
Crews gained access to the property through roller shutters and used a high pressured hose from outside the building to reduce the temperature in the shop before fightfighters entered wearing breathing apparatus. Crews then used two hose reels to tackle the blaze and reduced the smoke using a positive pressure fan.
Upon investigation, the cause of the fire was faulty electricals leading to the overheating of a computer.
Crews were in attendance for approximately two hours and wish to remind people to get their electrical appliances checked by a qualified professional.
