Recycling plant fire - Rochdale

FIREFIGHTERS have taken control of the fire at a recycling plant in Chichester Street, Rochdale.

At the height of the blaze there were 10 appliances at the scene.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are at the scene using ground monitor jets and aerial platforms to extinguish the fire.

Four pumps and two aerial appliances will remain at the scene throughout the day.

Crews wish to remind people in the area to keep doors and windows closed as a large quantity of thick black smoke has discharged over Rochdale and the surrounding areas.

 

Recycling plant fire - Rochdale

WE have currently got 10 appliances dealing with an incident at a recycling plant in Chichester St, Rochdale.

Crews were called at around 12.13am on Saturday, April 8 to reports of large flames and a quantity of smoke coming from the plant. On arrival firefighters were faced with a well-established fire involving a building at the plant.

Crews are using breathing apparatus and hose reels at the scene to tackle the fire along with a thermal imaging camera.
