Overnight Incidents between 5.30pm Wednesday, March 29 and 8am Thursday, March 30

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Wednesday, March 29 and 8am Thursday, March 30 Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received 77 calls and attended 44 incidents.

Here are some incidents firefighters attended:

Shipping Container Fire – Ashton in Makerfield

At 6.23pm two fire engines from Wigan attended a shipping container fire in Bolton Road, Ashton in Makerfield.

Firefighters used two hose reels, one breathing apparatus and ceiling hooks to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters were in attendance for approximately one hour.

 
Mud Rescue – Rochdale

At 7pm two fire engines from Rochdale, Technical Response Unit from Leigh, along with the Water Incident Unit and a fire engine from Eccles were called to rescue four casualties from mud in Matthew Moss Lane, Rochdale.

Firefighters used long boards, throw lines and 30 metre GP lines to rescue the casualties.

Firefighters were in attendance for one hour.

 
Cooking Fire – Eccles

At 8.18pm three fire engines from Eccles and Salford attended a fire involving an oven in a house in Chadwick Road, Eccles.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters were in attendance for twenty minutes.
