Overnight incidents: Thursday, August 25 to Friday, August 26

GMFRS received 110 emergency calls from 5pm last night until 8am this morning. Here are some incidents of note:

- At 9.30pm on Thursday, August 25, 2016 we were called to a road traffic collision on Bridge Hall Lane, Bury. Firefighters used a short extension ladder and straps to stabilise the vehicle, while removing a casualty. Crew from Heywood, Bury and a technical rescue unit from Ashton-under-Lyne attended and were there for 30 minutes.

- We were called at 9.49pm on Thursday, August 25, to a skate park near Matthews Street, Manchester, where firefighters assisted colleagues from North West Ambulance Service to remove a casualty suffering a broken leg. Long boards and straps were used by crew from Gorton and they were on scene for 30 minutes.

- At 11.50pm on Thursday, August 25, we attended a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, Manchester. Firefighters used cutting equipment to remove a casualty from one of the vehicles. They also used a hose reel, long board and trauma care equipment at the scene. The casualty was taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service. Crew from Stretford and Sale and a technical response unit from Ashton-under-Lyne attended and were on the scene for one hour.

Furthermore, yesterday (Thursday, August 25) at 9.44am three fire engines, from Farnworth and Atherton, dealt with a cooking fire in Little Hulton.

The fire involved a chip pan in a terraced house on Parkway. When firefighters arrived three people were outside and two of them went to hospital.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels to put out the fire and a positive pressure fan to remove smoke from the house. Crew members were at the address for around one hour.
