Kitchen fire – Stalybridge – January 8, 2017

SHORTLY after 7.00pm on January 8, 2016, three fire engines from Stalybridge, Ashton and Hyde attended a fire at a house in Kendal Court, Stalybridge. The fire originated in the kitchen of the semi-detached house after a pan of food had been left unattended.

Crews used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire and used a positive pressure fan to clear smoke from the property.

Bin fire – Oldham – January 8, 2017

TWO fire engines from Oldham, one from Chadderton and one from Hollins attended a fire at an eight storey block of flats in Scholes Street, Oldham. Crews discovered the fire in the bin compound and used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to tackle the flames and one positive pressure fan to clear smoke from the area.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental by a carelessly discarded heat source.

Firefighters were in attendance for around forty minutes.
