Overnight incidents between 5.30pm Thursday, February 23 and 8.30am on Friday, February 24, 2017

BETWEEN the hours of 5.30pm on Thursday, February 23 and 8.30am on Friday, February 24, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received 162 calls and attended 45 incidents.

 

Kitchen fire – Eccles

AT 6.28pm on Thursday, February 23, a crew from Eccles attended a kitchen fire at a house on Worsley Road, Eccles.

The fire was out on arrival but the crew led one occupant to safety, gave them a precautionary check and cleared smoke from the property.

Crews were in attendance for approximately 35 minutes.

 

Bedroom fire – Eccles

THREE crews from Eccles and Agecroft were called to a fire at a house on Hereford Road, Eccles, at 7.26pm on Thursday, February 23.

On arrival crews found a fire in a bedroom and used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, lighting equipment and a positive pressure fan to extinguish the fire and clear the smoke.

Two people escaped the property unharmed before crews arrived.

Firefighters checked adjoining properties for damage and fitted smoke alarms to all three properties.

The cause was due to a cigarette charger.

Crews were on the scene for approximately three and a half hours.
