FIREFIGHTERS have had a busy night, with 156 calls being made.
These are the most notable incidents from yesterday evening, Wednesday, August 17 to Thursday, August 18.
20:53 – A crew from Wigan attended a fire on Frog Lane in Wigan involving a derelict property. They used a hose reel, thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the small fire.
21.47 – A crew from Ashton-under-Lyne and Stalybridge attended a fire on Bower Grove in Stalybridge. The fire, in an outbuilding was tackled using a hose reel and a thermal image camera.
22.46 – A crew from Salford and Moss Side attended an incident on Cowesby Street, Manchester. The fire was in a kitchen on the ground floor of a house. The firefighters on the scene used breathing apparatus, hose reels and a positive pressure ventilation fan.
02:31 – A crew from Stockport and Offerton attended a fire in a shed on Birch Tree Avenue in Hazel Grove. On arrival, the firefighters discovered it had spread to neighbouring garages. The crew used breathing apparatus and hose reels..
04:25 – Four fire engines from Rochdale, Littleborough and Heywood, along with our Command Support Unit attended a fire on Spring Mill Walk in Rochdale involving some recycling material. An ultra-high pressure lance and hose reels were used to extinguish the fire. Firefighters were still on the scene at 08.30.
05:01 – A crew from Stockport, Cheadle and Offerton attended a fire on Petersburg Road in Edgeley, Stockport. The fire, in a cellar of a house was tackled using a hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan.
05:26 – A crew from Oldham, Chadderton and Heywood attended a fire on Ambrose Street in Rochdale. The fire involved a large goods vehicle and fire cars. It was extinguished using jets.
