Between the hours of 5.30pm on Tuesday, February 7, and 8.00am on Wednesday, February 8, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service received 97 calls and were mobilised to 46 incidents. The below may be of interest.
House fire – Oldham
AT 8.14pm on Tuesday, February 7, five fire engines were called to a house fire in Primrose Avenue, Uppermill, Oldham.
Crews from Oldham, Mossley, Blackley and Rochdale were met with a severe fire involving a kitchen, first floor bedroom and the roof of a dorma bungalow.
Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and high-pressure lances and fans to tackle the fire. The majority of the fire was extinguished by 9.30pm and firefighters remained on the scene for a number of hours cutting away at the roof of the property to ensure any hotspots were extinguished.
By 2.30am the incident had been scaled back and just one fire engine remained at the scene until the morning.
One elderly woman who was out of the property before the arrival of the fire service, was treated by firefighters for smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by ambulance for a precautionary check.
Building fire – Oldham
AT 8.20pm on Tuesday, February 7 two fire engines from Chadderton and Hollins Fire Stations attending a building fire on Featherstall Road, Oldham.
The fire originated in an outhouse which spread to the kitchen of a takeaway restaurant. On arrival crews used two hose reels, two breathing apparatus and short extension ladder to extinguish the fire.
Fire crews were at the property for one hour.
