GMFRS received 137 calls in the 24 hours between 8am on September 21 and September 22. This includes duplicate calls. Here is a summary of some of the incidents we attended:
Kitchen fire in Royton: At 2.28pm two fire engines from Oldham and another from Chadderton Fire Station attended a kitchen fire at Spindle Court, Royton. The fire involved food in a microwave. The fire was out when firefighters arrived but the crews helped a casualty suffering smoke inhalation.
Thatch roof fire in Tottington: At 5.09pm a fire engine and wildfire unit from Bury, along with two further engines from Bury and Ramsbottom fire station attended a fire involving a thatched roof of a building. The fire was on Hollymount Lane, Tottington, Bury. One adult was assessed by North West Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation but was not taken to hospital. Crews were there for nearly three hours.
Stockport fire: At 5.20pm three fire engines from Withington, Stockport and Offerton attended a fire on Bloom Street in Stockport. Crews used two hose reels, a thermal imaging camera and a ventilation fan to bring the fire under control. Crews were there for around three hours.
Chip pan fire: At 5.29pm two fire engines from Oldham Fire Station and another from Chadderton attended a kitchen fire on Garforth Street in Chadderton. The fire involving a chip pan on a cooker was brought under control using one hose reel and a ventilation fan. Crews were there for approximately 40 minutes.
