Chip pan fire in Manchester
At 16:00 three fire engines from Manchester Central, Phillips Park and Blackley were mobilised to a house fire at Kingsbridge Road in Manchester. Firefighters used one hose reel, two breathing apparatus, and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire, which was caused by a chip pan. All persons were accounted for and one casualty was treated by fire service personnel. The casualty was suffering smoke inhalation and was assessed by North West Ambulance Service
We’d like to use this as an opportunity to highlight the dangers of chip pans. We would encourage people to take extra care when cooking and where possible to stop using chip pans and to switch to safer alternatives.
