Incidents - Sunday, June 18

BETWEEN 5.30pm on Friday, June 16, and 8.30am on Monday, June 19, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended 360 incidents.

Flat fire – Manchester

AT 4.19am on Sunday, June 18, three crews from Philips Park and Manchester Central were called to a fire at a flat on Averill Street, Manchester.

On arrival crews found a mobility scooter on fire which had spread to the building and used six breathing apparatus, three hose reels and a specialist fan to extinguish it.

Three people were rescued by crews and given oxygen before ambulance crews took two of them to hospital.

The cause of the fire was deliberate.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour.

 

Road traffic collision – Standish

AT 8.54am on Sunday, June 18, two crews from Wigan and the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Leigh were called a road traffic collision on Barrowcroft Close, Standish.

On arrival crews helped one casualty out of her car and gave first aid before ambulance crews took over.

Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 30 minutes.

 

Water rescue - Prestwich

FOUR crews from Blackley, Agecroft and Eccles along with the technical response unit and major rescue from Leigh and water incident unit from Eccles were called to Drinkwater Park, Prestwich, at 11.09am on Sunday, June 18.

On arrival crews found a man in the water and used a rescue sled, throw lines and specialist equipment to rescue him.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and 15 minutes.

 

Garage fire – Stockport

AT 2pm on Sunday, June 18, three crews from Withington, Whitehill and Stockport were called to a fire at a garage on Kentmore Close, Stockport.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Crews were on the scene for approximately 45 minutes.

 

Flat fire – Salford

AT 5.52pm on Sunday, June 18, three crews from Manchester Central and Broughton were called to a fire at a flat on Cheetham Street East, Salford.

On arrival crews rescued one casualty from the flat and gave him oxygen therapy.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire and were on the scene for approximately two hours.

 

Road traffic collision – Bolton

AT 7.34pm on Sunday, June 18, two crews from Atherton and Bolton Central and the technical response unit and major rescue unit from Leigh were called to a road traffic collision on Park Road, Bolton.

On arrival crews found a car on its roof and used specialist equipment to secure it and move it to a safe location.

One casualty had escaped the vehicle before crews arrived and was treated by ambulance crews for shock.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

 

Shed fire – Manchester

THREE crews from Philips Park and Gorton were called to a shed fire on Harley Street, Manchester, at 9.55pm on Sunday, June 18.

The cause of the fire was deliberate.

Firefighters used one hose reel to bring it under control and were on the scene for approximately 30 minutes.
