Boat fire – Sale
At 10.50am on Saturday, Jan 14, crews from Sale, Stretford and Eccles, and a water incident unit from Eccles, were called to a boat fire in the canal near Bridgewater Road, Sale.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and a high pressured fan to clear smoke and reduce high CO levels detected by a gas monitor.
The accidental fire involved an incorrectly maintained wood burning stove, which resulted in heat transfer through a chimney to timber cladding on the interior of the 45-foot barge.
Fire service staff isolated the fuel and electrical recommended the owner of the boat have all fuel sources inspected by a professional.
Crews were on scene for 90 minutes.
RTC - Littleborough
At 11.27am on Saturday, Jan 14, two crews from Rochdale and Heywood and two special rescue appliances from Ashton were called to a road traffic collision in New Road, Littleborough.
Firefighters rescued one casualty from the two-vehicle collision involving a car and a bus.
Crews were on scene for 45 minutes.
Building fire – Bolton
At 12.59pm on Saturday, Jan 14, crews from Bolton, Bolton North and Farnworth were called to a building fire in Chorley Old Road, Bolton.
The fire involved an electrical meter and fuse block, which had resulted in smoke spreading throughout the building. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and high pressured fans to tackle the fire.
The cause of the fire was accidental, by electrical.
Crews were on scene until 2.30pm.
Shop fire – Bolton
At 7.30pm on Saturday, Jan 14, two crews from Bolton and one from Bolton North were called to a fire involving a shop in Chorley Old Road, Bolton.
Firefighters used hose reels to extinguish the fire that involved rubbish and a door frame at the rear of the property. The shop was heavily smoke logged, as was the adjacent property.
Crews were on the scene for about 90 minutes.
It is believed the fire was started deliberately.
Cooker fire - Stretford
At 8.08pm on Saturday, Jan 14, crews from Stretford, Sale and Eccles were called to a fire in Glastonbury Road, Stretford.
A pan of food had been left on the cooker and the resident had left the property. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and high pressure fans to clear smoke.
Crews were dealing with the incident for about 30 minutes.
Kitchen fire - Wigan
At 11.51pm on Saturday, Jan 14, two crews from Wigan and a crew from Hindley were called to a building fire in Wallgate, Wigan.
The fire involved a deep fat fryer and a foam extinguisher and hose reel was used to put it out.
The crews were at the incident for 20 minutes and the cause was accidental.
Shed fire - Bolton
At 11.52pm on Saturday, Jan 14, crews from Hindley and Atherton were called to fire in Market Street, Westhoughton, Bolton.
Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish a shed fire at the rear of an unoccupied shop. The shed and its contents were completely destroyed and crews were in attendance for 50 minutes.
The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and anyone with information should contact police on 101.
