Cooking fire in Wigan: We were called at 11.52am on Monday, September 5, to a cooking fire at a home on Snowden Avenue, Wigan. The fire involved a pan on a cooker and crew from Hindley and Wigan used two breathing kits, one foam extinguisher and a ventilation fan to put the fire out and clear smoke. Firefighters were at the scene for 40 minutes.
Middleton house fire: At 2.50pm we were called to a fire at a semi-detached house on Monmouth Street, Middleton. The ground and first floors of the house were damaged and firefighters from Blackley and Chadderton used a hose reel, two breathing kits and a ventilation fan to put the fire out. Crew were at the scene for several hours and the fire investigation team is working with Greater Manchester Police to find out the cause.
Tyldesley chip pan fire: At 3.01pm we were called to a fire involving a chip pan and a cooker in the kitchen of a mid-terraced home on Nelson Street, Tyldesley. Firefighters from Farnworth and Atherton used four breathing kits, a hose reel, a ventilation fan and a hearth kit while putting the fire out. One casualty was rescued and treated by a fire service trauma technician, before going to hospital for precautionary checks. Two other people self-rescued before firefighters arrived at the scene. Crew were on the scene for 50 minutes.
